Expect Respect

20 Nov

One of the things that women need to consider when entering into a relationship or while in an existing one is to expect respect.  Make sure you are clearly expressing what your expectations are in the relationship.  If expectations aren’t expressed and clearly defined, then it will often to lead to frustrations.  In any relationship, you should always expect to be respected.  If you are sensing that the respect is not present in the relationship, it may mean to either have a conversation with your partner about it or it’s time to sever the ties.

Always expect to be respected.  When a man doesn’t respect a woman then it can lead to mistreatment.  If he can’t recognize your value, then its time to move on.  Set your expectations high when it comes to relationships and make sure RESPECT is at the top of the list.

Valuable

1 Mar

When you value something, you make sure that you take good care of it. You will do whatever it takes to keep what you value intact. Whenever it appears that someone is going to hurt or damage what you value, you will do whatever you can to protect it. This should not only be applied to our possessions, but this should also apply to our lives as well.

When we recognize our value as women, we will do whatever is necessary to take care of ourselves. Oftentimes, we are so used to giving of ourselves and taking care of others; that we often forget to take care of ourselves. Take a moment to step back from your daily routine and take some time to take care of YOU! You are worth it.

For those of you who are in relationships, make sure you value your worth so that the person you are connected to will value you as well. People will treat us the same way they see how we treat ourselves. We teach people how we care about ourselves and how we want to be treated by our own actions.

Sometimes to protect your value, you must separate yourself from those that don’t recognize it. It’s okay to step away or separate yourself from those who do not see your value or recognize the plan and destiny for your life. Separating yourself will aid in preserving your value. When we allow people to remain in our lives that don’t recognize our worth, they will do whatever they can to diminish it. You don’t need that in your life. There are too many great things getting ready to take place in your life.

Today, take a moment to think about how blessed you really are. Know that you are worth being loved, you deserve to be treated right and you are worth receiving all the blessings that God has in store for your life. You, my sister, are valuable!

Making of a Pearl

26 Jan

The making of a pearl is a unique process that takes time to develop. It is not something that can be rushed.  The outcome of a pearl is so beautiful. That’s why making sure the pearl is fully developed is essential. We are likened to a pearl because we were fearfully and wonderfully made by the hands of God. He made us in His likeness and image. He took His time to develop us into who we are today. And the great thing about it all is that God will continue to work on us (Phil. 1:6). He sees your destiny and purpose and He knows your are a pearl already in His eyesight.

Along with being developed, a pearl also has to go through a process of being irritated. A substance is placed in the oyster to irritate it so that it will produce a pearl.  That substance is placed there on purpose to produce some pearls, but the irritation doesn’t stop the process of the pearl being developed.  The pearl is still formed.  It made me think about how at times we may go through things in life that may appear as though it’s going to destroy us, depress us or discourage us from moving forward. In actuality, that irritation is being used as a springboard to push us into our destiny (I Samuel 1, Exodus 1:8-12, I Corinthians 4:16-18). The irritation is necessary for your outcome.  So the next time you encounter any trials, don’t allow yourself to get stressed.  Just know that it’s all working together for your good and it’s just helping to bring out the pearl in you.

Speak Lord…..

27 Sep

The wonderful thing about serving God is that He has the final say so about everything that pertains to our lives.  No matter what may be going on in our lives that appear to be turning our life upside down, all God has to do is speak a word.  He knows how to move every mountain, calm every storm, straighten the crooked and restore the broken.  All He has to do is speak.  So today, whisper “Speak Lord.”

Listen attentively to the voice of God and He will direct your every path.  He will give you the wisdom you need to overcome every situation.  He will speak and give you the strength you need to stand.  Be encouraged and just say:

SPEAK LORD…..

Don’t Lose Focus

31 Aug

A few Sundays ago, I preached a message called, Don’t Lose Focus.  There are times when God tells you to do a specific assignment and in the midst of your obedience, the winds and the waves appear.  At that time, you must not allow yourself to focus on the winds and the waves.  Your main goal is to walk on water as Peter did (Matthew 14:22-32).  God has given you everything you need to walk on that water; to reach your goals, to fulfill His assignment, to live a life that is pleasing in His eyesight.  It’s all in what you focus on.  Whatever you focus on the most will come alive in your life.

Don’t make the mistake like Peter did when he took his eyes off Jesus because of the winds and the waves.  Just as Peter received a word from Jesus, “Come.”  God has given you a word and when you act upon that word, the authority of that word is present, which makes it come alive.

I encourage you today.  “Don’t Lose Focus” on what God has told you to do.  Don’t lose focus on your goals and dreams.  Keep walking on that water!

Fresh Start

11 May

A fresh start gives you an opportunity to possibly do some things over in a better way.  There are times in our lives where we make mistakes, but don’t allow yourself to become consumed with the mistakes you’ve made.  In case you didn’t know, you’re human!  Forgive yourself, forgive others and learn from the mistakes you’ve made.  Glean the wisdom you need to draw out of the mistake so that you don’t make that same error again.  Walk away from the old and make a fresh start to becoming a better YOU!

Isaiah 43:18-19

Pursue Your Dreams

16 Jan

One of the remarkable things about Dr. Martin Luther King is that he didn’t mind dreaming and along with that, he didn’t mind pursuing after his dream no matter what the odds were against him.  This is truly a lesson that we can learn from his struggle.  We have to keep pursuing our dreams no matter what type of opposition we may face.

There is a reason for your dream.  Your dreams will not only affect your life, but the impact of your dreams will have a greater affect on those lives they touch. Never stop dreaming because those ideas and the vision you have within has a divine purpose and a specific timing to be fulfilled.

Dreams are not completely fulfilled by just dreaming alone, but we must be in HOT PURSUIT of those dreams if we ever want to see them surface into reality.  Dr. Martin Luther King along with a lot of great men and women have pursued after their dreams with every intention of seeing it with their very own eyes.  His vision was so powerful, that it continues to burn in the hearts of people throughout the world.

So today, I encourage you to take the initiative to pursue after your dreams. Don’t allow doubt, procrastination, fear or even a lack of finances to stop you from dreaming.  As you pursue your dreams and go after it, God will connect you with the right people to assist you in areas where you lack the ability or the knowledge to fulfill it.

Yes, that’s right….there’s no excuse!  This is a new year and a new season, so stretch your faith and pursue after those dreams. The world is waiting for the fulfillment of them!

Commitment Produces Results

1 Jan

As we embark on a New Year we must begin by being thankful to God for allowing us to see another year. His grace has been sufficient for us and for our families and for that we must take the time to acknowledge Him and give Him thanks.

Now that you’ve made it over to the other side of another year, its time to roll up your sleeves and be committed to your present and future endeavors. God has a plan for your life, but in order for that plan to surface into reality, you must be committed to seeing it through.  Commitment produces results. If we commit ourselves to a task, we will see the results we are anticipating.

I want to encourage you today on the first day of this glorious new year, a year of abundance, overflow, more than enough; a year of divine favor and a year filled with great opportunities waiting just for you.  You can experience your greatest year ever, if you commit yourself to making it so.

Commit to be a better Christian, commit to being a better wife, commit to being a better mother, a better student, a better author, a better business owner or a better YOU!  You’ve got to be committed first in order to do what you desire to accomplish.

My husband preached a message a few weeks ago, “Don’t Leave It Up to Chance.” In other words, don’t leave it up to chance that you’re going to do this and that, but you’ve got to have a plan of action and you must be committed in order to get results.

So, I leave you with this thought; Commitment Produces Results.  Be committed and watch how this year can be one of your greatest years ever!  (Proverbs 16:3)

W.H.A.T. has a lot to do with your DESTINY?

5 Dec

Believe it or not the word WHAT has a lot to do with your destiny.  Yes, you have destiny and there is a divine purpose for your existence.  You’re not here by accident, but God had every intention for you to be here and your life is significant.

We learned at the CYPG Ladies Gathering on December 3, 2011 that W.H.A.T. has something to do with our future endeavors.  I’m sharing them with you today so that you can utilize them to aid you in reaching your destiny and to achieve your goals.

W – Words.  Proverbs 18:21 tells us that death and life are in the power of our tongues.  This lets us know that our words have power and they have creative ability to cause things to take place in our lives.  Just as God created the world with His words (Heb. 11:3), we have the same abililty to use our words to frame our world.  Use your words wisely because you can actually have what you say.

H – Habits.  Habits are usually things that we do without even realizing it.  They occur because of prior repetition of an act.  The more we do it, the more it becomes a habit.  Our habits affect our destiny.  If you don’t possess good habits, then the likelihood of accomplishing your goals is slim.  So, take a moment to examine your habits and see if they are beneficial for the desired outcome.

A – Attitude.  If you don’t have a good attitude it will affect how you function in your life.  A positive attitude projects positive energy and that energy will flow back into your life.  We often hear people say that attitude is everything.  You can cause a bad situation to turn for your good based on your attitude within the situation.  A – Actions.  Our actions have a lot to do with the outcome of our destiny.  We can talk about what we’re going to do for years to come, but if we don’t put some action to our talk, we will just be known as talkers.  Put some work with your faith!

T – Thoughts.  Proverbs 23:7 tells us that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.  Our thoughts govern our actions.  What we see taking place in our lives is a result of what we thought about and talked about on a daily basis.  Every great idea begins with a thought.  It pays to examine the way you are thinking.  Allow God’s word to transform your thinking so that you can walk in your destiny and achieve your greatest goals.  Remember, the train that could.  He said, “I think I can, I think I can.”  Try it and you’ll see a difference.

Stephanie McKenny quote: “Your words, your thoughts and your perception of things will affect your actions, which will eventually affect your destiny.”
